Training for Pre-Licensed and Practicum Therapists
Gaining Ground is a training experience designed for Pre-Licensure Clinicians and Master’s Students in practicum. This topic driven series is created to help clinicians move forward in their journey as a therapist by advancing their clinical skills and confidence. Each course focuses on practical, clinically relevant concepts that can be immediately applied in client work
The four core courses—Anxiety, Attachment, Trauma, and Self-Care—are intended to be taken consecutively. When completed as a series, they provide a cohesive Trauma Responsive Attachment Model to use in your practice.
All Gaining Ground trainings are held in person from 8am-4pm at Cedar Valley. To foster connection, collaborative learning, and accessibility, each course is offered in a small-group format limited to 10 participants. Detailed information about your session will be provided one week prior to the training.

a little about me
I have worked with families, adults and children for 20 years. Before private practice I worked in family homes, schools and correctional facilities. In all of my work I have believed that relationships are integral parts of our lives and when we feel truly connected, really seen and understood, amazing things can happen. Over the years I have done many trainings for professionals, communities and schools, but started thinking “why isn’t there affordable trainings for new clinicians?” Gaining Ground was born! My goal became to support new clinicians by creating a training series that expands on the knowledge you already have, while helping you confidently apply it in your clinical work. Also, that it would only be for new clinicians so you can feel supported, understood, and truly seen as you gain ground in your journey!
