Gaining Ground is a training experience designed for Pre-Licensure Clinicians and Master’s Students in practicum that is topic driven and created to help clinicians move their knowledge forward in their journey as a therapist. These courses are focused on ensuring participants don’t just learn the fundamentals of a topic but learn how to clinically apply them. Each course will include case consultation, so bring your questions!

All courses of the Gaining Ground training are in-person and designed to be a small group format limited to 10 people per round to help create connection and discussion. They are held at Cedar Valley located at 3460 Washington Drive Suite 110 Eagan, MN 55122. You will receive more detailed information one week prior to the training. · Understand Complex Trauma and the neurobiology of how early life trauma impacts brain development

· Increase knowledge recognizing Complex Trauma and other types of trauma

· Learn how to use your relationships with clients to help build resources that support trauma repair

Often times it’s a misnomer that only certain therapists “do trauma work” but almost all therapists encounter clients who have identified experiencing something traumatic. It might also be that you have enough knowledge to be trauma informed but thinking “now what”. How to take that knowledge, expand on it and how to apply it with your clients.

· Increase awareness to help make your professional life sustainable

· Leave with clear direction on how to metabolize all you encounter in your work as therapist

When I say self care I’m not talking about bubble baths, hanging out with friends or going for a walk. I’m talking about how to show up, be present and hold difficult stories for our clients everyday and have a sustainable career as a therapist. Since you are just at the beginning of your career this is the time to create those things for yourself to ensure you’ll have the long sustaining career you want.

a little about me

I have worked with families, adults and children for 20 years. Before private practice I worked in family homes, schools and correctional facilities. In all of my work I have believed that relationships are integral parts of our lives and when we feel truly connected, really seen and understood, amazing things can happen. Over the years I have done many trainings for professionals, communities and schools, but started thinking “why isn’t there affordable trainings for new clinicians?” Gaining Ground was born! My goal became to support new clinicians by creating a training series that takes the knowledge you already have and add to it by focusing on how to apply it clinically. Also, that it would only be for new clinicians so that you can feel truly seen and understood. Come join the conversation and gain ground in your journey with me!
